Don’t Gamble With Our Future! Join Us Before it’s too Late!
It’s not too late to convince the Richmond City Council and other key decision makers that there are better options for the community.
Out of town investors are trying to convert the Point Molate Bay Shore land into a massive, Vegas-style casino. The project would increase traffic, lead to more gambling addiction and crime, damage local businesses and have irreversible negative environmental impacts.
MAKE YOUR VOICE & CONCERNS HEARD,
GIVE PUBLIC COMMENT TO THE RICHMOND CITY COUNCIL.
Every Tuesday evening you have the opportunity to give public comments to the Richmond City Council. They are going to be voting as early as January 2010 to approve the casino deal.

From 10/15 SF Chronicle:
A Bad Bet
“Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has helped bring an expansion of casino gambling to the state during his tenure, is finally drawing the line. He has joined the chorus in opposing a plan for Las Vegas-style gambling at Point Molate in Richmond.”
“…California, with some 60 casino-sponsoring tribes, has more than enough…As it is, the proliferation of large-scale casino gaming in California has far exceeded the contours of the measure that was sold to voters when they passed Proposition 1A in 2000.”

Breaking news:
The Governor’s office has released a letter written to the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the City of Richmond staunchly opposing the Point Molate casino project and the Draft EIR/EIS. This is a very positive development in support of our efforts!
Some highlights include:
“The Governor’s Office urges the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Secretary of the Interior to exercise its discretion to reject the Guidiville trust application, and all other similar acquisitions. Land acquisitions that would allow Indian gaming in urban areas are contrary to the intent of the voters of the State and the State’s policies.”

Thank you to all of those who attended the September 17th Hearing! Opposition to the project was in full force with residents addressing the negative impacts on traffic, the environment and crime.
